About me

Hi, I am Lazar

My name is Lazar Mihajlović, a photographer whose work is born at the meeting point of heritage, intuition and the moment.

I was born in 1991 in Drvar, and growing up in smaller places shaped the way I look at the world today, attentively, quietly and with a feel for the details that often escape others. Although I trained as a geography teacher, I quickly realized that I am not drawn to the maps of a place, but to the emotions that people create within it.

My path to photography was not a straight line. I worked all kinds of jobs, from physical labour to roles in an international environment, and each one taught me discipline, responsibility and how to work with people. It is exactly that experience that lets me be present at your wedding in the right way today: unobtrusive, calm and fully focused.

In a way, photography has always been part of my life. I grew up alongside my father, who spent his whole life behind the camera, in a time when photographs were tangible, lasting and carefully made. Even so, my own relationship with photography grew gradually, from a quiet presence in childhood to a clear decision that this was the path I wanted to follow.

I started as a "hobby", photographing nature and everyday moments, exploring light, composition and atmosphere. Over time that "hobby" grew into a way of thinking, into a need to capture what is honest, unobtrusive and real.

Today my focus is photographing weddings, both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and across the wider region.

What draws me most to a wedding is not the ceremony itself, but the energy of the day, the blend of emotion, spontaneity and moments that will never happen again. I approach every wedding as if it were the only one, because for the people living it, that is exactly what it is.

Throughout the day I do not look for perfection, I look for truth. What inspires me most are the honest, relaxed moments: a glance that lasts a second longer than it should, an embrace that was never planned, or a smile that happens between two words.

I do not direct emotions and I do not insist on excessive posing. My approach is simple: to let people be themselves. To move, talk, touch and experience their day exactly as they truly feel it. It is in that freedom that photographs with depth are born.

I believe in photographs that look natural, unobtrusive and true, photographs that do not only preserve a memory, but bring back the feeling.

In my work with couples I recognize different sensibilities, which is why, over time, I have developed an approach that adapts to their energy and their vision of the day.

Some couples find themselves in a warm and intimate atmosphere, in photographs that have depth, contrast and the feeling of a cinematic story, where light and emotion build the frame together.

Others lean towards classic elegance, a timeless expression, natural colours and a balance between spontaneity and subtly guided moments.

And there are those who want a stronger visual identity, photographs with a touch of luxury, pronounced contrast and an editorial approach, where every frame feels like part of a fashion story.

Whatever the direction, the essence of my work stays the same: for the photographs to be more than beautiful, to carry the weight of the moment and the power to bring you back into it, again and again.

My goal is not only to record how your day looked.

My goal is to preserve how it felt.

Because a true photograph does not only show a moment.

It brings it back.
